Mike Coad's Tangaroa Mk4 "Rambling Rose" - Heads

The picture isn't too clear, but below are a few comments to make it clearer:

bullet

It's viewed through the door from the chart-room/cabin. The grey on the right is  the opened door.

bullet

The grey piece with the white spots on is the plinth for the toilet.

bullet

The white area to the left of the plinth is the (vertical) original bunk end.

bullet

There's no water supply to the sink. Water is supplied from a small plastic carrier with a tap.

bullet

There's a small seat, just visible on the left hand side.

bullet

The other white area behind the wash top is the side of the no 2 beam trough.

bullet

It all still needs to be painted.

bullet

Some sizes:

bullet

Distance from frame at bunk head to new bulkhead: 570mm

bullet

Distance from floor to wash top: 950mm. This was defined by the height to the bottom of the beam trough.

bullet

The wash top is 450mm deep. This was defined by the distance between frames 2 and 3.

bullet

The toilet plinth rests on the third stringer (640mm up the hull side from the keelson). This makes the toilet seat a bit far from the floor, but the stringers on the other side are a good height to use as foot rests. Having the toilet fairly high made the best use of the limited width available.

bullet

The hinge line of the door is on the centreline of the boat. This leaves room for a 500mm deep chart table. Mine is 700mm wide, and hinges up. With more changes to the existing furniture the table could have been carried further outboard and  made slightly deeper. This is attached to a shelf on the 5th stringer up.

bullet

There's a seat on the 4th stringer up on the port side of the hull. This was already there, as were a number of shelves. These were all slotted to take the left and right hand parts of the bulkhead.
