Whalley: "we
decide to stay in port and walk up to the old hill village. This was
destroyed by a huge earth quake 20 odd years ago.
The island is full of walks most on tracks or dirt roads and the
greenness, pine woods, wild flowers and herbs plus the views make walking
here a pleasure. No plane noises, little traffic and only the rustle of
lizards.
We walked up the old donkey path and after thirty minutes there was the
village, much restored, away on the hillside." |
