Greek Islands in "Pahi 45" Tirla

I told John about Patitiri as Liz & I used to enjoy sailing there in the early '80's. I hoped it was still as pretty as it used to be and was shocked whenI opened this photo before reading the text - it must be better in the other direction - but it looks more like the harbour close by to the NE to me John... SB
28th April 2001 from John Whalley: Patitiri is beautiful and they are still building the new quay for us. Lots of lorries and bulldozers. Rather like the airport which is on the map, started in 1980's unfinished due to hard rock and local politics, but that's Greece. Two men were fishing the first caught this octopus the second, in the background, turned out to be using an old speaker magnet to get a builders tool from the depths of the harbour! Anyway its good to be here after some 350 mile since launch in Preveza Ionian four weeks ago. This area is also a marine park and home to the rare Monk seal. This islands original hilltop capital virtually raised to the ground by an earth quake in last 20 years but the stone villas have been bought by rich northern Europeans looking for a peaceful retreat. Its 20C and 19.00hrs time for a walk round the Taverna's, beats work! We will spend a few weeks exploring these islands then head north again to the wilds of Kalkidiki.
