We
first purchased the plans for the Tiki 30 (Plan 54) around the middle of
1998 and started building in October 1998.
At the beginning of 2000 my wife Sue became ill and was no longer
able to build with me out in the shed.
At this time we decided to get our second hull built professionally
to save time and to hopefully be out on the water a lot quicker.
I estimate that the boat will be finished sometime between July and
September 2001.
The only hold up on progress is the cost of building with a
professional!
However, our builder allows me to come and work on the boat at
weekends and during holidays, either alongside himself or on my own which
saves a great deal on the cost.
We are happy with the quality of workmanship (as we should be) and
are looking forward to being on the water soon.
Pictures of the build and progress to date are shown. |

As you can see we had to extend our shed.
When we first started putting the hull together Jan 99, we thought
we had picked the wrong boat. It
looked so small!

painted first before fitting cupboards as Sue wanted the inside of
cupboards in the galley to be light and bright.
That way any unwelcome visitors would be clearly seen. |

strengthening to the bulkheads and knee by applying an additional layer of
routed ply around the edge which not only gives added strength but also
looks more attractive. |
